Elegant and stylish

Judging by the abundance of stately buildings, it’s no surprise that Oud-Zuid is considered the most sophisticated neighbourhood in Amsterdam. Here, you can stroll through the most beautiful, fairy-tale-like streets with luxurious residences.

The highlight of oud-zuid? Undoubtedly the museumplein.

At the heart of the neighbourhood lies the Museumplein, a venue for both large and small spectacles. It hosts inaugurations, holidays, football matches and demonstrations. As the name suggests, the square – which feels more like a park – is surrounded by museums. The grand Rijksmuseum is located at the head of the square, and on the side, you’ll find the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, and the world-famous Concertgebouw classical music hall.

‘A beautiful neighbourhood with nice specialty shops, my favourite boutiques and plenty of lovely terraces for a good glass of wine.

Shopping hub of Oud-Zuid

After immersing yourself in culture at Museumplein, head over to P.C. Hooftstraat. Whether you’re browsing or buying, this luxury shopping street is definitely worth a visit. Additionally, Oud-Zuid has plenty of shops within walking distance that are slightly less high-end.

In oud-zuid, you’ll also find plenty of green spaces within walking distance.

Urban oases

Oud-Zuid is rich in greenery. From Museumplein, you can reach Vondelpark– a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike – within ten minutes. It’s a place for walking dogs, cycling, relaxing and ending the day with a beer at ‘t Blauwe Theehuis. If you head in the opposite direction from Museumplein, you’ll find yourself in Sarphatipark in no time. This cosy, small city park is located in the middle of De Pijp.
